Art Club
This week at Lulworth House Residential Care Home we held our very first Art Club.
With help from some of our residents, we prepared two paintings to discuss: ‘The Water Lily Pond‘ by Claude Monet and ‘Ophelia‘ by John Everett Millais.
Our residents enjoyed looking closely at the pictures and commenting on them. Andrew and Doreen said they used to have a big garden with a pond. Sue loved the bridge, as a symbol of connection between known and unknown. Others pointed out how the colour green helps reduce stress, as it reminds and brings you back to natural landscapes. In contrast with ‘Ophelia’, where residents sensed something darker happening.
Our ladies and gents then decided to enjoy some painting themselves, taking inspiration from the pictures observed. More Art Clubs to come!
National Radio Day
Saturday 20 August was National Radio Day and here at Lulworth House we displayed our record player with albums for our residents to look at and hold. Many memories came to mind!
We held a group discussion about everyone’s favourite music and listened to some memorable tunes. A very enjoyable day.
