Last week at Lulworth House Residential Care Home we took part in the RSPB’s ‘Big Garden Bird Watch’.
Our residents enjoyed preparing seeds and crumbles to place in our bird feeder, positioned strategically just outside our big windows overlooking our garden.
We quietly waited for birds to approach it, while listening to bird calls – our House turned into a forest full of sounds!
Unfortunately only squirrels showed up and stole all the food!! Although our ladies and gents had fun watching them running around the garden and playing!
To end the day, we enjoyed watching video documentaries about tropical birds and birds of paradise, which our residents were fascinated by.
We also created a sensory room for our residents to be able to enjoy calming sounds by closing the curtains and using specific light sensory tools – the perfect environment for relaxation.
