Chocolate rocky road cornflake cake mash up!
On Friday 23 August here at Lulworth House Residential Care Home, our Nourishment and Social Wellness Coordinator Katja, together with resident Diana, set out all the ingredients for both Rocky Road and cornflake cakes, and Diana chose everything to mix together.
They ended up with an interesting digestive and cornflake mix with sultanas, glacé cherries, mini marshmallows and sprinkles! Once set, it was brought out on our tea trolley and everyone enjoyed the ‘chocolatey mix up‘ with a hot drink. Diana decided it was the best thing she has made! Brilliant!
Shortbread
On Monday a group of our residents helped with our shortbread making. It was a real team effort to mix the dough. Maggie started off when it was easier to cream the butter and sugar together, but once all of the flour started to get added it was hard work and everyone had to help out!
It was all in a very good cause though – as who doesn’t like a piece of traditional shortbread?!
Birthday wishes
Our Activities Lead Abby celebrated her birthday on Tuesday 27 August, so our residents all signed a card for her. We also used some of the shortbread made in our Baking Club to decorate for her, and she took her birthday heart home.
