Burns Night
It was Robert Burns Night on Tuesday 25 January and here at Lulworth House Residential Care Home we decided to celebrate the occasion by reading some of his poems.
Our ladies and gents took turns to read poems aloud for their fellow residents and then we listened to some acted poetry reading on television, followed by traditional singing.
A very enjoyable time was had by all.
Australia Day
It was Australia Day last week and we celebrated it by virtually travelling to Australia!
We started by having a discussion over large images of the ‘Ten Pound Poms‘ and the years when people migrated to Australia thanks to the emigration scheme in place. Our residents also shared memories and stories from their families.
Later, everyone enjoyed making some music while listening to traditional Aboriginal tunes.
We explored some traditional colouring styles too, such as dot painting, and talked about the beautiful and diverse animals from Australia.
What a fascinating country!
