Lulworth House Residential Care Home gets a mobile library

Over the last few years our team members Katja and Cheryl have been collecting books from charity shops and donations, for everyone to enjoy at Lulworth House Residential Care Home.

Some of these are themed around subjects they think any of our residents will like, and some are based on things are a bit more person-centred, using what they know different individuals enjoy; for example they found a book on trains and planes for a certain gentlemen, whilst some of our ladies are partial to flowers or cookery books.

These books have all been stamped with a special ‘Lulworth Library’ mark which Katja found online, so we know that they will always come back even if they are borrowed for a long while. We even have a section of children’s books for when we have visiting families or when the playgroup comes in.

As part of this project, Abby has turned one of our trolley’s into a mobile library with books from the ‘Lulworth Library’ bookshelf in the dining room. This means the books can be taken around our Home to entice our avid readers!

Some residents like to sit in our dining room before or after meals and read, while many have really enjoyed the mobile library idea that Abby has created for us.
