Braille Day
To mark World Braille Day, celebrated annually on 4 January, our Lulworth House Residential Care Home residents took part in a thoughtful and creative activity focused on positive communication and inclusion.
They were invited to choose an uplifting message and write it onto brightly coloured card. Using a Braille guide sheet, they carefully recreated each letter using sparkly gems to form the correct Braille dot patterns. The finished messages were proudly displayed in our hallway for everyone to admire and included:
“Live life to the fullest”
“Don’t worry, be happy”
“Have a happy new year”
“Laughter is the best medicine”
Cake treats
At the beginning of the week, we enjoyed a hands-on baking session. Our residents mixed cake crumbs with buttercream and a small drop of milk before gently combining them into a dough.
The mixture was rolled into bite-sized balls, chilled to firm up, and then dipped in delicious melted chocolate. The finished treats were enjoyed later in the afternoon as an indulgent homemade sweet. Well done bakers!
