Remembrance tributes at Lulworth House Residential Care Home

Remembrance music with Kevin Walsh

Our residents at Lulworth House Residential Care Home enjoyed a Remembrance Day themed music afternoon with performer Kevin Walsh on Friday 12 November.

We all enjoyed hearing some classic songs of the era, singing along and being patriotic waving our Union Jack flags!

We also had some red, white and blue balloons decorating our lounge and also flying around, as we had fun with them.

It was good to come together to commemorate the fallen and appreciate the freedoms we have today.

Poppy display

Last week our residents also took part in some art and craft activities to create poppies for Remembrance Day.

We created a beautiful poppy tree using tissue paper and paints. Some of our residents enjoyed cutting them out, whilst others liked folding and glueing pieces together.

A number of our lady residents have also been supported by our Activities Team to crochet beautiful poppies too; our wonderful poppy tree has been on display all week in our main lounge and makes a stunning centre piece.

Poppy cake

Last week, our Nourishment and Social Wellness Coordinator Katja and a group of our ladies made and decorated a fantastic poppy cake ready for Remembrance Day.

They made a Victoria sponge, using jam and cream, and Katja and Carol tried hard to create poppies from piped figure of 8s.

Well done ladies – we think it looked amazing!
