On Wednesday 19 July at Lulworth House Residential Care Home we celebrated our first Sports Day!
It was such a lovely day and we were lucky to have many residents involved. We had a number of races including the egg and spoon race, zimmer frame race, wheelchair race, relay race and the sack race for staff! We had lots of fun but also made sure it was a safe environment for everyone as it got very exciting and competitive!
Our residents helped with the preparations for the Sports Day and even made our banner using a sheet and paints. In the morning, we did a warm up using resistance bands and our cycling machine. This made sure our ladies and gents were ready for all the races in the afternoon.
To make sure that our residents had plenty of drinks and energy for the races, we made a hydration station. We offered them a variety of refreshments including water with lemon, cucumber and fresh mint from our garden. We also offered them hydrating fruits including pineapple and orange slices which were enjoyed during the breaks in between our races.
We had an amazing day and cannot wait to do it again next year!
