Our Activities Team at Lulworth House Residential Care Home recently held a meeting with our residents to discuss suggestions for our Home and a popular idea which arose was for everyone to go to the beach.
Although we’d love to take everyone to the coast, our minibus just isn’t big enough unfortunately, so we thought we would bring the beach to Lulworth House instead!
We purchased some large bags of sand, inflatable beach balls, palm trees and sun hats, and had fun setting up a ‘mini beach’ for everyone to enjoy. Our lovely Nutrition Lead Katja has a big collection of shells so we used these for our sandcastle making (and of course listened in to see if we could hear the ocean in them!).
Luckily the weather was in our favour, so we spent a wonderful afternoon in our summer hats soaking up the sun before ‘Steph’s Ices’ ice cream van came to see us. Our residents instantly recognised the chimes of the van outside and all rushed to get their treat. As you can see, they were gigantic, with all the trimmings! Yummy!!
