Ringing in the new year and flower arranging
This past week our residents at Lulworth House Residential Care Home enjoyed a twisted ring toss game, using drinks for target practise; They had fun and challenged each other before enjoying a beverage of their choice.
Our ladies also loved our newest Flower Arranging Club. Fresh flowers were distributed on tables in the two lounges and with help from Mai, who used to be a florist, we created amazing table and windowsill arrangements to place around the Home. Everyone felt delighted to be involved and pleased to smell and admire the fresh flowers.
This created an uplifting and playful atmosphere – perfect for the long month of January!
Italian flag sensory activity
Last week we celebrated Italian Flag Day on Saturday 7 January; Our residents decorated different pasta shapes with the colours of the Italian flag. Once they dried, this became a sorting and sensory activity – dividing pasta into colour groups and recreating the Italian flag pattern.
This activity prompted discussions about Italy between one of our residents (Maria) and one of our Activities Team (Michela) – who are both Italian. The pair were delighted to talk about their country.
Many Lulworth House residents have been to Italy on holiday and we all enjoyed being transported to vacation memories – a welcome escape from the January blues!
