Here at Lulworth House Residential Care Home, we’ve been trying to think of creative ways to incorporate our residents life stories into our Activity Planners. Each week we will be having a ‘life story day’ where we organise activities that explore our residents’ lives, routines and family.
After speaking with our residents’ families, we found out that our gentleman Joe used was an avid pie maker back at home, so we decided to put his skills to the test. With some help from our team members, he created this amazing apple pie. The recipe didn’t even call for a lattice top, but our residents wanted to get creative with it and made this swirly affect.
For the second part of life story day, we organised a group cleaning session, washing up the cutlery, as many of our residents used to be professional cleaners or they just miss the idea of completing the housework. Although it’s very simple, some of our residents said that they enjoyed returning to a bit of normality and taking part in a useful task.
