We celebrated King Charles III coronation this past weekend at Lulworth House Residential Care Home in a big way!
We began by putting our displays out; our homemade crowns, flags, hats and props with lots of balloons and bunting.
Many families, friends and other visitors came in to share the historic day with their loved ones which really added to the day for everyone.
We set up the lounge to watch the coronation together on television before having our BBQ. Sadly, due to the rain, we had to change this to an indoor BBQ but it didn’t make the food taste any less delicious! Our residents were very complimentary about our burgers and big selection of UK-themed puddings, especially our stunning crown cake!
Following lunch, we welcomed singer Luke who performed for us for the first time. He did a mini-Elvis medley, and a singalong section with lyrics, with some classics such as ‘We’re gonna hang out the washing on the Siegfried Line.’ He ended his set with everyone joining in on singing ‘God save the King’. The whole performance was fantastic and some residents have already asked for him to come back again.
We all had a brilliant time and it was certainly a day to be remembered.
