Lulworth House Residential Care Home residents dazzle with their Nellsar Crafty Crown Competition entry

As part of the coronation celebrations at Lulworth House Residential Care Home, we entered a Nellsar-wide competition to design and make an eye-catching coronation crown.

Heading up the competition, Nellsar’s Recreation and Well-Being Manager Viv Stead commented: “The idea was to involve our residents in making something beautiful and memorable to display in their Home or garden that could be enjoyed by everyone for the coronation.”

We started off with some gold paper crowns and lots of blingy stickers, paints, gems and glitter glues. We then decided to go even bigger and create a crown from scratch, so we used an old cardboard box to make the shape. Some residents got stuck in painting this and making it look as pretty as possible. We even got a photo of King Charles’ crown to try and make as close of a replica as we could. A lot of effort went in to our entry to shine for the coronation!

Although we weren’t crowned amongst the winners, we had so much fun creating our wonderful crowns which made a great centrepiece for our coronation celebrations.

The judges commented: ‘A crown amongst crowns, the residents at Lulworth House used a cardboard box to make their big crown – and the king would be pleased with the recycling! Everybody had their own crown decorated with beautiful jewels and glitter.’

Congratulations again to everyone at Lulworth House involved in creating our fantastic entry for the competition.

Check out the winning entries and all the runners up!
