Sensory mittens and Christmas party at Lulworth House Residential Care Home

Christmas decorations

Despite the difficult times and challenges of this past year, the team here at Lulworth House Residential Care Home made sure to work our hardest to make Christmas time special for our residents.

From decorations, to activities and entertainment, the house is filled with colours, music and joy to fit everyone’s preference and taste. Take a little glance at the pictures of our Christmas decorations below.

Christmas party and jumper day

Our residents enjoyed their annual Christmas party and jumper day on Thursday 23 December. Wearing festive outfits and accessories, everyone was looking forward to the party music, dancing and lovely party food buffet.

The dining room was decorated for the occasion and our ladies and gentlemen enjoyed a glass of champagne as well as Christmas crackers and jokes after lunch.

Sensory mittens

Residents here at Lulworth House have been enjoying some wonderful handmade sensory mittens kindly donated by one of our late residents’ friends.

Sensory mittens are for people with dementia to help elevate their mood and trigger happy memories; they also provide visual, tactile and sensory enjoyment.

We would like to thank the kind person who donated these – they make our residents happy and it is nice to see them all engaged with this thoughtful donation.

The perfect scent of Christmas

Throughout the Christmas week, our residents have had fun playing a sensory game, “The perfect scent of Christmas”. Using cloves, cinnamon sticks and peppermint, they enjoyed guessing the different scents and shared their recipes and traditions linked to these spices.
